How we can all burn better...
Burning wood in an Eco Design appliance offers a renewable and greener alternative to gas and oil but that is only half the story. We need to consider air pollution too - and this is not just the stove model we choose but also how it is used and the choice of fuel we burn. Scandanavian countries have been using wood to heat their homes for centuries and are the world leaders on burning cleanly and efficiently - we need to follow their lead. The UK are now moving away from house coal and we recommend seasoned (aged) and/or kiln dried hard wood that is less than 20% moisture content. Using kiln dried wood is a great way to get your fire hot enough to take your larger, seasoned logs. We also recommend the "top down" method of lighting your fire. Click here
